« on: April 15, 2014, 02:55:22 PM »
Now in-stock at LargescaleRC....

Demon RC is proud to introduce it's 2 speed transmission for the MCD line of vehicles. Your vehicle will accelerate faster and have a better top speed than a traditional single speed setup. We will be offering an assortment of gear ratios so that you can get that beast of a bottom end with decent top speed or gear it for a stock take off with an insane top end. Gear it however you like. You will be smiling ear to ear!

Hey soundman, How have you been mate??

Been a while with no post, you need to look around the forum, already got a topic for the 2 speed tranny... so i merged yours here.

You thinking of getting the 2 speed for your X4??  Would love some feedback on it.

I am interested in this conversion, however it needs some modification for an electric motor, hopefully somebody is on the case :)

good thing about this conversion is it comes with alloy gear carrier, i'm running standard one as the mcd alloy one wont fit electric conversions, something to do with a bearing, so could kill 2 birds with 1 stone if can get 2 speed done :)

I've been great man, just moved back to USA. All settled in (almost) but ready for some fun stuff, DIY(s), and posts. I sit back and catch my self up on Monday.

I'd love a 2speed, but to fit my carrier, and setup. If this fits the Rampage, and MCD V4. Is it safe to say that other Rampage 2speed setups would fit the MCD V4?

An E-2Speed X4 (nice label) ;)

Well yeah, can be a bit confusing.... the pics posted here are of a Rampage, but the item listing shows it as being compatible with the MCD V4 MODELS, both on the LargescaleRC and DemonRC website.

So i can only assume that it would have to be compatible with all the V4, W5 and X4 cars... i would imagine that it would be just a matter of getting the right gears for the X4.

I sent James from DemonRC a message, but have received no reply as yet ??  Will try again.

this was the reply I got from demon rc when enquiring about brushless 2 speed conversion, he was asking about the shaft from motor to a/b gears and how mcd managed it.
I see how they did it.  The extension shaft mounted to the motor shaft is basically the gas version's clutch bell shaft extended to meet the motor's shaft.  Basically, all you would need is that same extension but from our clutch bell design.    The MCD shaft goes from a 10mm to 9mm to 8mm and then to a 6mm threaded end.  Ours is much simpler.  It's a 12mm round shaft and drops to a 10mm hex.  Instead of a 6mm threaded end we have a 6mm tapped hole.   I could probably draw up the design if I had a few more measurements.   It's not that complicated.

Now, here's the kicker.  It's not something that we would want to manufacturer considering the few brushless setups out there.  We actually might make that conversion kit obsolete with our own conversion kit. which is setup more like the brushless Rampage XBE which is similar to the 1/8 buggy setups but with duel battery packs.  If you would want to pursue machining your own shaft I can give you all the measurements needed.  I would expect that most machine shops would charge right around $90-$150 to machine a single part like that.

Well lucky you... you got a reply... me still waiting.  Just don't understand how he wanted to advertise on here, but then just doesn't come back to answer any questions directly  ::)

I can understand them not wanting to make anything for the electric setups, just not enough owners out there with electric conversions, as yet.

Hello, Mr. Rob,

Thank you very much for your advice!

We are interested to produce a new shaft to suit the electric car.

Would you please give some more advice about how to proce this new shaft?

Any advice would be great helpful to us.

Do you know if there a large sales amount with MCD electric cars?  We are in closed environment, we don't know if MCD electric car sales good.

Your help would be appreciated!

Best regards,

Lei
